The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada Welcomes 1,022 Members to the Association

ITAC increases its membership by five percent from the previous year

Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is pleased to welcome a record-breaking 1,022 members to its association as of March 31, 2022, which is an increase of five percent from the previous year.

The continued increase in membership demonstrates the support and trust ITAC has within the Indigenous tourism industry. Despite the pandemic and ongoing challenges Indigenous tourism businesses are facing, the sector remains united and ITAC will continue to lead and support the sustainable restoration of Indigenous tourism in Canada.

ITAC presents a unified Indigenous tourism industry voice to visitors, organizations, government departments and industry leaders to support the growth of Indigenous tourism in Canada. Any person or organization with an interest in advancing Indigenous tourism in Canada may apply to become an ITAC member. The membership application deadline to receive Voting Member status was April 1, 2022. However, the application process remains open year-round and any person or business can still apply to receive membership benefits at any time.

ITAC will continue to lead the industry and the recovery of the Indigenous tourism sector to pre-pandemic levels as outlined in its strategic recovery plan, Building Back Better: Strategic Recovery of Indigenous Tourism in Canada 2022-2025. ITAC is committed to supporting its members and ensuring the Indigenous tourism industry’s long-term sustainability and its healthy and prosperous recovery.
