Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) attended another successful International Media Marketplace (IMM) event in New York City (NYC) from January 22 – 23, 2025. This marked IMM’s ninth year in NYC and 13th globally to help build relationships and network — connecting the travel industry with North America’s top travel journalists, editors, influencers and broadcasters.

Ryan Rogers, ITAC’s award-winning Communications Manager, and Provincial and Territorial Indigenous Tourism Associations Indigenous Tourism Alberta and Indigenous Tourism Québec attended alongside 390 global brands, meeting with approximately 525 top-tier media. Rogers had 24 pre-scheduled meetings with writers who contribute to outlets such as BBC Travel, CNN Travel, National Geographic, The New York Times, and The Washington Post, to name just a few.

ITAC was delighted to have attended another IMM event and remains committed to ongoing proactive media relations and participation in media familiarization tours, which are crucial to ensure Indigenous tourism experiences stay on top of consumers’ minds when they plan their trips. Moreover, ITAC recognizes that more travellers are keen on Indigenous tourism and knows domestic and global demand is growing for authentic Indigenous experiences, so IMM is an excellent opportunity to expand media networks in key markets.
