The Jonview Canada team has reached out to the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada with the following message regarding the acquisition of Jonview Canada by Japanese travel company H.I.S. Co. Ltd., which is expected to close on or around Nov. 30.

Dear Partner,

We wish to share the news that an agreement has been reached for the acquisition of Jonview Canada by H.I.S. Co. Ltd., a leading global travel services company, operating 296 retail locations in Japan and 272 branches in 68 countries, 155 cities around the world, in addition to an amusement park and a hotel chain. The transaction is expected to close on or around November 30, 2017, subject to the Competition Bureau approval.

Since its founding in 1981, Jonview Canada has focused on creating attractive Canadian experiences for international visitors. Beginning in 2001, Jonview Canada moved under the umbrella of Transat, which helped the company progress by supporting our partnership development plan in Canada and worldwide. Today, the Jonview Canada team boasts a solid network and unparalleled expertise within the incoming tour operating industry in Canada.

With Canadian tourism showing renewed vigour, we are convinced that our acquisition by H.I.S., whose mission is complementary to that of Jonview Canada, bodes well for the development of our business. This publicly traded tourism conglomerate, founded in 1980 by Japanese entrepreneur Hideo Sawada, is currently pursuing an ambitious expansion plan in North America. We are pleased to be a part of our new shareholder’s growth strategy, and it in turn has expressed great confidence in the vision, expertise and dedication of the Jonview Canada team.

H.I.S. believes that preserving corporate culture is essential to success. With that in mind, we are pleased to tell you that the Jonview Canada mission, culture and strategic direction will be maintained. The entire team will remain in place, and there will be no major changes either to our organization’s operations and services, or to relations with our partners. Furthermore, we will have access to the resources of H.I.S.’s global network.

As active players in the international tourism industry for more than three decades, it is only too apparent to us that success hinges on long-term relationships that create benefits for all parties involved. We are privileged to have enjoyed those kinds of partnerships, both in Canada and around the world, and to have nurtured them for more than 35 years. We are proud of our rich past and excited about our future, founded on mutually rewarding partnerships and a positive growth outlook.

All the best,
Your Jonview Canada team
