October 8, 2019, Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is excited to attend the Parks Tourism Exchange Forum; a special session offered for attendees at the Canadian Parks Council (CPC) Annual General Meeting in Quebec City on October 7, 2019.

Since 1962, the CPC has collaborated with national, provincial and territorial (FPT) park agencies, as well as all levels of government and Indigenous leaders, to provide Canadians with a credible and reliable resource for the education, management and stewardship of Canada’s parks and protected areas.

Sébastien Desnoyers Picard, ITAC’s Director of Marketing, welcomes the opportunity to meet with the representative heads of Canada’s FPT park agencies. As part of his presentation, Desnoyers Picard will share ITAC’s strategic goals, objectives and achievements, including how cultivating collaborative partnerships have helped to further develop, market and promote Canada’s transformative Indigenous cultural experiences. The forum will also provide a unique platform for ITAC to explore mutually-beneficial collaborations focused on growing Indigenous parks tourism and Canada’s conservation economy.

“I’m looking forward to sharing ITAC’s vision, successes and Indigenous tourism experiences with the distinguished members of the CPC, at the upcoming Parks Tourism Exchange Forum,” says Desnoyers Picard. “Our organizations are well-aligned on the important role that Canada’s spectacular parks and protected areas play – for both Canadian and international visitors – and I’m excited to see what new initiatives may result from this meeting, and beyond.”
