ITAC is grateful to Suzanne and wishes here all the best in her future endeavours
Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) would like to thank Suzanne Reeves, ITAC’s departing Director of Marketing, for her outstanding contributions, leadership and service to the association’s team and membership.
Of note, among Reeves’s many contributions to her role was the intention to mentor an Indigenous person into ITAC’s Director of Marketing position and this has been successfully achieved. Prior to that, she developed and implemented strategic global sales and marketing programs in tourism, including organizations like Destination Canada and the Olympic Games.
An exceptional ally of Indigenous tourism, Reeves brought 25 years of outstanding industry expertise to ITAC’s marketing team in 2020. She was instrumental in the development of Destination Indigenous and The Original Original, assisted in the establishment of Indigenous Culinary of Associated Nations (ICAN) and acted as a senior strategist in ITAC’s marketing department until 2022, when Reeves was appointed Director of Marketing. She was then responsible for overseeing the marketing initiatives of ITAC, which has brought head-turning attention and significant resources to the country’s Indigenous-led tourism sector.
Reeves is a brilliant example of an industry leader. On behalf of ITAC’s Board of Directors, President and CEO, ITAC’s team and the entire Indigenous tourism industry, we thank Reeves for her excellent leadership and outstanding contributions to the Indigenous tourism sector.
Suzanne Reeves will remain with ITAC until March 31st, 2023, and support a smooth transition to the new Director of Marketing.
