Local B.C. Film Company Receives Highest Honours and Wins Internationally Acclaimed Cannes Award

Vancouver, B.C. – Local Vancouver film company, True Calling, has been singled out as amongst the best in the world, receiving the highest honours in their industry by winning an internationally acclaimed Silver Dolphin at the 2017 Cannes Awards.

Started in 2016, True Calling is a Vancouver-based company that to date has produced a 50-episode series showcasing authentic stories of Canadians and their true callings, in an effort to inspire people to pursue the things they find most meaningful.

“Winning a Cannes Award is an unforgettable moment that wouldn’t be possible without our team of filmmakers, writers and designers in Vancouver – not to mention the stories of Canadian’s that we are chasing and telling,” says Martin Fisher, President and CEO of True Calling. “Winning this award is great recognition for the work we’re doing of uncovering stories of people who love what they do – and in turn, helping to make the world a better place.”

The Cannes honour comes for their work on an episode titled Heart of the Arctic, which tells the story of Kylik Kisoun Taylor, an Entrepreneur, Cultural Ambassador and Guide in the arctic.

“Showing people the Inuit culture, the animals, the land, and the community is what I love – I’m grateful that I have found my true calling,” says Kylik Kisoun Taylor.

The project was made possible through financial support of the Government of Canada.

True Calling is distributed on Discovery Education and is currently seen in over 50 countries around the world. For more information on True Calling, visit:
