October 30, 2019, Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is excited to represent Canada’s Indigenous tourism sector at two prominent Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) forums: Destination IQ and DestinationQ.

Through his keynote presentation – at each event – Keith Henry, President & CEO of ITAC, will share how building collaborative partnerships, while developing and strategically marketing Canada’s diverse portfolio of authentic Indigenous cultural experiences, has helped grow a dynamic Indigenous tourism sector across Canada.

Prior to attending to the forums, Henry will visit Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) to meet with the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) to learn about the history, culture and tourism initiatives of the Quandamooka Peoples, who have lived on Minjerribah for more than 25,000 years.

“I feel honoured to be presenting at Destination IQ and the DestinationQ forums in Queensland,” says Keith Henry, President & CEO of ITAC. “This unique opportunity allows me to share ITAC’s experiences and successes, as well as learn from some of Australia’s prestigious Indigenous leaders and tourism organizations.”

Destination IQ, hosted by the QTIC Indigenous Champions Network on November 6, is a one-day forum where leaders, businesses, government, native title holders and community organizations convene to discuss important issues, opportunities and strategies to help facilitate the growth of Indigenous tourism and employment throughout Queensland.

The DestinationQ forum, which immediately follows on November 7th and 8th, is the state’s largest tourism industry gathering. The two-day collaborative event, bringing together businesses, government and industry leaders, features keynote addresses, masterclass sessions and panel discussions.
