Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is delighted to launch its 2025-26 membership program, which officially begins on April 1. This program aligns with the latest market readiness standards outlined in The Original Original Accreditation Program.
“2025 presents growing opportunities for the Indigenous tourism industry,” says Keith Henry, President and CEO of ITAC. “The association is proud of the 1,300+ members across the country and their contributions towards a brighter future for authentic Indigenous tourism in Canada and Indigenous communities across the country. The alignment of membership with several provinces and territories builds on the advancement of Indigenous tourism from coast to coast to coast. Moreover, we remain committed to positioning Canada as the global leader in Indigenous tourism by 2030.”
ITAC has introduced an updated membership program designed to better align with The Original Original (TOO) Accreditation program. This exciting refresh aims to better serve members while maintaining a commitment to excellence in Indigenous tourism. The new member types are:
- Non-Accredited Indigenous Tourism Businesses
- Business Ready TOO Accredited Businesses
- Visitor Ready TOO Accredited Tourism Businesses
- Export Ready TOO Accredited Businesses
- Industry Partners
Once again, membership fees continue to be waived except for industry partners, it remains at $99.
Becoming an ITAC member is straightforward. Visit the association’s membership page, choose your region, and click the “Apply Now” button to initiate the online application. ITAC membership staff will promptly review your application, and upon approval, you will start receiving your membership benefits. Just as in prior years, members of Indigenous Tourism Alberta, Indigenous Tourism Association of New Brunswick, Indigenous Tourism BC, Indigenous Tourism Manitoba, Indigenous Tourism Quebec and Travel Nunavut will automatically gain ITAC membership, thanks to established partnership agreements.
To streamline the renewal process, ITAC encourages members in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nunavut, or Québec to renew directly with their respective provincial or territorial Indigenous tourism organizations. For existing members and members outside these regions, renewal instructions have been sent via email.
