January 28, 2020, Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) attended the International Media Marketplace (IMM) in New York City last week, with over twenty appointments with key international media representatives.

ITAC’s Marketing Coordinator, Ryan Rogers, attended the Media Marketplace on January 23 to meet with top travel journalists, editors and broadcasters to discuss ITAC’s news, events, developments and potential stories. The event offered unrivalled networking and relationship-building opportunities, and ITAC was very excited for the opportunity to connect with some of the 500 top tier media representatives in attendance and continue the growth of Indigenous tourism in Canada.

“Thanks to our partnership with Destination Canada, we are able to attend these international marketplaces and have a significant presence,“ says Sébastien Desnoyers Picard, ITAC’s Director of Marketing. “We are proud to be representing all of our stakeholders at this prestigious event and look forward to growing Indigenous tourism with an increase in international visitors to our experiences.”

The partnership with Destination Canada also gave ITAC the opportunity to showcase Nations magazine, which was included in all 500 delegate bags. The magazine highlights Indigenous people and experiences across the country.  “It’s an honour to be able to show the variety of Indigenous experiences to such a distinguished audience,” says Sébastien Deynoyers Picard.
