The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) congratulates Cluxewe Waterfront Bistro, Kwa’lilas Hotel and Salmon n’ Bannock Bistro for being recognized as Travelers’ Choice award winners by TripAdvisor, placing them within the top 10 percent of hospitality businesses around the globe.
On July 29th, TripAdvisor announced the winners of its 18th annual Travelers’ Choice Awards, highlighting the top airlines, attractions, beaches, destinations, hotels, restaurants and experiences around the world based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews collected last year prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Every year, TripAdvisor pulls together all the reviews, and ratings that travelers share from across the globe — and use that info to spotlight the very best.

The Kwa’lilas Hotel is located in the traditional territories of the Kwakiutl people and is a demonstration of the commitment of the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations to share their history, culture and passion for their traditional territory in a meaningful and permanent way, by showcasing and celebrating it in a beautiful, comfortable space that is representative of the community. Kwa’lilas is a kwak’wala word used by Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw people meaning a place to sleep.
