The Canadian Tourism Awards are presented annually by Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC)  to recognize success, leadership and innovation in Canada’s tourism industry, and to reward those people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer travellers superior tourism experiences in Canada.

This year the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is pleased to present The Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Award.

This is a new award that will recognize an Aboriginal tourism business that has demonstrated a commitment to the development, promotion and delivery of an authentic, innovative and enriched Aboriginal cultural tourism visitor experience. The recipient will have demonstrated a commitment to authentic Aboriginal cultural tourism as a key aspect of encouraging and promoting tourism growth in their region.

The 3 finalists for this year’s inaugural award are:

  • Gespeg Micmac Interpretation Site – Gaspé, QC
  • Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations – Wendake, QC
  • Musée des Abénakis – Odanak, QC

This years’ awards are in Ottawa  during TIAC’s national conference,  with the gala event on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.
