Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC –The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is pleased to share its Year Three Growth Update for The Original Original (TOO) Accreditation Program.
The Original Original Accreditation is important to travel trade associations, international tour operators, travel agents, Destination Canada, destination marketing organizations, local communities and others to promote a quality tourism experience. The program also enables Indigenous tourism businesses to access lucrative travel trade networks and new consumer markets.
The program looks at recommended practices in six important areas of business:
- community engagement and support
- visitor experience
- health, safety and comfort
- sustainable Indigenous tourism
- marketing and visitor services
- business acumen/practices
The Year Three Wrap-Up Report highlights the program’s growing momentum and measurable impact since its launch. Key elements include:
- Accredited Businesses & Applications – A full look at the growing number of accredited Indigenous tourism businesses and total applications received to date.
- Regional Insights – A province- and territory-specific breakdown that reveals regional trends, showcasing how accreditation is strengthening Indigenous tourism from coast to coast to coast.
- National & International Reach – Evidence of the program’s expanding influence across Canada and beyond.
This report celebrates three years of achievements, and the results reaffirm that TOO Accreditation Program is elevating industry standards and advancing cultural authenticity, visitor confidence, and community-driven tourism development.
