This morning’s cabinet shuffle resulted in a new Minister being named as responsible for tourism. The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) would like to welcome The Honourable Minister Soraya Martinez Ferrada to her new portfolio as the Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec. ITAC looks forward to continuing our strong relationship with the Minister’s office and the great work we will continue to do together as we partner to grow Indigenous tourism.
In addition, the other ministry that supports ITAC’s work has changed. ITAC welcomes The Honourable Gary Anandasangaree as Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations. And thank you to Marc Miler, former Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations for his work.
Two ministries that support ITAC’s work remain unchanged. Thank you to The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne as the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry of Canada and The Honourable Minister Patty Hadju as Minister of Indigenous Services for ongoing support for our industry.
In closing, ITAC would like to thank The Honourable Randy Boissonnault for his strong support and advocacy of the Indigenous tourism sector during his tenure as tourism minister for putting Indigenous tourism as one of the key pillars of the new Federal Tourism Growth Strategy. Congratulations Karina Gould and best of luck in your new role as Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.
