Unceeded Algonquin Anishinaabeg Territory – (Ottawa, ON) – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) welcomes The Honourable Pascale St-Onge as the newly appointed Minister of Tourism and Minister responsible for the Canadian Heritage and Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec. ITAC looks forward to collaborating with Minister St-Onge to further promote and develop Indigenous tourism from coast to coast to coast.
The Honourable Soraya Martinez Ferrada stepped down on Thursday, February 6, 2025, when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced changes to the Ministry. Moreover, ITAC extends its gratitude to the former Minister of Tourism, Soraya Martinez Ferrada for her dedicated service as Minister of Tourism. Her support has been important in advancing Indigenous tourism nationwide, including the Indigenous Tourism Fund’s Micro and Small Business Stream and the Government of Canada’s tourism strategy—Creating Middle Class Jobs: A Federal Tourism Growth Strategy.
Two ministries that support ITAC’s work are unchanged. Thank you to The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne as the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry of Canada and The Honourable Minister Patty Hadju as Minister of Indigenous Services for ongoing support for our industry.
ITAC remains committed to fostering strong relationships with our government partners to ensure Indigenous tourism’s continued growth and success in Canada.
