Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), Vancouver, BC — The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is proud to share that it has been named Industry Partner of the Year at the 2025 Excellence in Indigenous Tourism Awards, presented during the 27th Annual American Indigenous Tourism Conference (AITC) on Wednesday, October 29.
The Industry Partner of the Year Award is presented to a current American Indigenous Tourism Association (AITA) partner business or organization that exemplifies industry best practices in all aspects of its operations and fosters an inclusive environment that amplifies Indigenous voices. The association’s CEO selects the award.
ITAC further enhances collaboration opportunities for AITA, enriching understanding, education, and cultural exchange among members. It offers business development and cultural education opportunities for AITA members, supporting the long-term economic viability of tribal communities and each tribal member through collaborative efforts. Through ITAC’s unwavering commitment, the association has not only strengthened the American Indigenous Tourism Association but also the broader Indigenous tourism community across borders, making it a model of partnership and allyship.
“We are deeply honoured to be recognized as Industry Partner of the Year by the American Indigenous Tourism Association, said Keith Henry, president and CEO of ITAC. This award reflects the growing strength of Indigenous tourism across Canada and beyond. Collaboration between our Nations is what drives meaningful progress—when we work together, we uplift our communities, our entrepreneurs, and our shared stories.”
ITAC extends heartfelt thanks to the American Indigenous Tourism Association for this honour and congratulates all award recipients and nominees for their outstanding contributions to Indigenous tourism.
