On January 24th, for the first time our marketing team attended the International Media Marketplace (IMM) in New York City. IMM is the leading single-day event for travel journalists to meet with the travel industry and an opportunity for us to meet with top-level journalists and influence their upcoming articles.
Over 400 US journalists/bloggers/influencers were present at this one day event to meet with around 300 destinations. Our team had a full schedule with 24 appointments as well as many extra networking meetings. 60 Canadian partners were present within the Destination Canada section.
The trip in New York continued on the 25th with the media/trade event at the New York Times travel show. Three Indigenous operators were also exposed at the event: Eeyou Istchee Tourism, Polar Outfitting, Igloo Tourism and Outfitting were amongst the 560 booths present. The event gathered over 30,000 travelers and industry professional attendees.
We were very pleased to see high interest from medias and trade partners regarding Indigenous experiences and we look forward to bringing more US travelers, the #1 international market, into our businesses.
