Package Feature: Victoria: Historic City Getaway

Learn more of the history and thriving modern culture of some of First Nations of Vancouver Island, and head out on the water to search for orcas and other marine life. This package is available May till October and includes return seaplane flights to Victoria Harbour from Vancouver Harbour, two nights’ deluxe accommodation, a whale watching boat tour, and entry to the Royal BC Museum.

The fun begins at the Vancouver Harbour Aerodrome in the heart of the city; soon you’ll soar over glittering glass skyscrapers before heading out on a short and wonderfully scenic flight over the tempting beaches of the Gulf Islands and sparkling waters of the Salish sea. Check into historic Chateau Victoria, an independently owned hotel with local roots reaching back to the 1800s, an easy stroll from Victoria’s picturesque harbour.

Home to one of the city’s finest cocktail bars, pull up a stool at the ornate bar and try one of the imaginative house creations. Later, head out to explore B.C.’s capital, enjoy the glittering lights of the Parliment Building at night, dive into fresh-off-the-boat seafood and find your new favourite store amongst the historic alleyways of the Market Square.

Sidney Whale Watching

Wrap up warm for an adventure onboard Sidney Whale Watching’s custom-built 30-foot wildlife viewing vessel, coasting the Salish Sea in search of sea lions, river otters, orcas, humpback whales and dolphins. Watch for bald eagles wheeling above your head hunting for salmon, listen closely to hear the unforgettable sound of the blow of a whale before it breeches the water, marvel at the beauty of these extraordinary mammals!

Royal B.C. Museum

Lose yourself in the fascinating world of the Royal B.C. Museum in their world-class First Peoples’ Gallery. See intricately carved totem poles, vivid masks and other Cultural treasures. Understand more about the effects of First Contact with Europeans on these ancient Peoples. Learn about the history of disrupted Indigenous languages at the Our Living Languages exhibition through interactive stations featuring 34 of B.C.’s Indigenous languages through artwork, video and audio. Afterwards, take a stroll to nearby Thunderbird Park to see the authentic Kwakuitl big house created by famous Kwakwaka’wakw carver Mungo Martin. On the way back to Vancouver, take one last look for whales as you fly above the Salish Sea in your floatplane.
