First Nations people have lived across Canada for thousands of years. There are over 600 different First Nations speaking over 55 different languages. These Nations have distinct cultures and spiritual beliefs.
The Inuit have maintained a continuous indigenous population for over 4,000 years. Everyday life in modern Inuit communities still reflects the ancient history of a hunter-gatherer tradition which has allowed the Inuit to survive in the Arctic.
The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is a non-profit organization that is committed to growing and promoting a sustainable, culturally rich Indigenous tourism industry in Canada.
