2018 International Indigenous Tourism Conference

The International Indigenous Tourism Conference (IITC) is an annual conference bringing together people interested and invested in creating and contributing to a growing Indigenous tourism industry in Canada and around the world. This year, the 2018 IITC is taking place October 30 – 31, 2018, on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The IITC is a community-led, industry-driven, international tourism conference for Indigenous and non-Indigenous tourism entrepreneurs, community leaders and partners. The agenda includes sharing best practices, networking, breakout sessions, keynote presentations and local cultural experiences. The 2018 IITC will close with the 2018 Indigenous Tourism Awards Gala dinner.

The International Aboriginal Tourism Conference was created to provide attendees with multiple opportunities to find beneficial and collaborative partnerships, with the ultimate goal of building capacity across Canada, broadening global networks, and sharing best practices for Aboriginal tourism development. Participants are offered workshops on Aboriginal tourism experience development, share Aboriginal tourism industry research and marketing strategies, and present on key strategies to support growing local capacity for Aboriginal communities.

Tourism is an $8.3B industry in Alberta and creates more than 127,000 jobs in the province. The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is working in Alberta to create a provincial Aboriginal tourism organization lead by the Indigenous community, and we need you!

In May and June 2017 ITAC conducted regional public forums so participants could learn how their community can overcome the challenges and barriers for Aboriginal peoples entering the tourism industry.

On November 6, 2017 Indigenous tourism entrepreneurs and community leaders from across Alberta will gather together for a full day of sharing and help shape the future of Alberta’s Indigenous tourism industry.

Canadian Inbound Tourism Association – Asia Pacific (CITAP) is committed to further developing Canada as the preferred destination for Asia Pacific travellers. CITAP was established in 1997 by the leaders of our Receptive Tour Operators.
