Memorandum of Understanding Signed to Support Indigenous Tourism


Joint news release with the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and the Yukon First Nations Culture & Tourism Association.

The Government of Yukon, the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) and the Yukon First Nations Culture & Tourism Association (YFNCT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Advancing Indigenous Tourism Conference today in Carcross.

Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada Announces 2018 Business Development Grant Recipients


$317,000 will be provided to 63 Indigenous-owned and controlled tourism businesses

December 4, 2018, Coast Salish Territories (Vancouver, BC) – ITAC has announced its 2018 micro grant recipients as 63 Indigenous owned tourism businesses, representing 12 out of 13 provinces and territories across Canada. This year, ITAC is providing $317,000 to Indigenous entrepreneurs and communities growing their tourism operations and developing to higher levels of market readiness —providing employment in their communities, enriching culture and revitalizing Indigenous economic opportunity (full list attached).

Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s National Awards 2018 – Nov. 28, 2018

November 28, 2018, Unceded Algonquin Territory (Gatineau, Quebec) – The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) has announced Quaaout Lodge & Talking Rock Golf Resort as the winner of the 2018 ITAC Indigenous Cultural Tourism Award, presented by the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC).

Eeyou Istchee Tourism and Tourisme Baie-James awarded the Prix excellence Tourisme, initiative de marketing numérique (digital marketing initiative)


Chibougamau, November 9, 2018 – Eeyou Istchee Tourism and Tourisme Baie-James were proud to receive the Prix excellence tourisme, initiative de marketing numérique (digital marketing initiative) for its Into the North project.

This prize was presented to the Regional Tourism Associations (RTA) at the 2nd edition of the Prix excellence tourisme, on November 6th in Quebec City. Thanks to the Into the North project, the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James region was among the 3 finalists in the digital marketing initiative category; a first for the two RTAs as well as for the region.
