ITAC is putting forward the call for applications through their 2017 Provincial and Territorial Indigenous Tourism Association Funding Program, designed to strengthen the development of the Indigenous tourism industry across Canada.
To increase revenues, employment growth, and the number of Indigenous tourism businesses in the industry, ITAC will be offering funding to provinces and territories that apply for support in building and strengthening an industry-led, not-for-profit Indigenous tourism association.
Funding applications may be submitted from June 1 to 30, 2017
In Canadian provinces and territories where there is not an already established not-for-profit Indigenous tourism organization, Indigenous representatives are invited to submit a formal request for support of up to $65,000 that may be awarded per province or territory. Representatives must specifically demonstrate how their proposal supports the establishment of a sustainable, industry-led, not-for-profit Indigenous tourism association for their province or territory.
In provinces and territories with a well established, widely recognized and supported provincial or territorial Indigenous tourism association, those associations are also invited to apply and must indicate how their proposed investments directly support ITAC’s five-year goals to increase Indigenous tourism revenue, employment, and number of businesses. Provinces and territories with a well established, widely recognized and supported provincial or territorial Indigenous tourism association are:
- Yukon – Yukon First Nation Culture & Tourism
- British Columbia – Aboriginal Tourism BC
- Quebec – Quebec Aboriginal Tourism
- Ontario – Indigenous Tourism Ontario
