National Geographic has published a new video featuring Indigenous tourism experiences, in partnership with ITAC and Destination Canada. The video features a visit to Ashukan Cultural Space in Montreal and the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James region of Quebec to learn from and about the people and art of the region.
Activist and artist Nadine St. Louis narrates the importance of Indigenous stories told by artists of their connection to the land. The video also features art and stories from David Bosum of Nuuhchimi Wiinu Cree Cultural Tours, Harold Bosum of the Aanischaakamikw Cree Cultural Institute, Nico Williams Anishinaabe Bead Artist. “To be Indigenous is not just one thing” St. Louis states, “That’s travel: experiencing the people, experiencing the stories, experiencing the land. Connecting”.
