April 4, 2018, Treaty 6 Territory (Saskatoon, SK) – The Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) is putting out the call for speakers to submit their session, panel, and workshop topics for the seventh annual International Indigenous Tourism Conference (IITC).
Speakers are encouraged to submit their ideas by July 15, 2018, through an online submission form found at http://bit.ly/2018SpeakerProposals. The International Indigenous Tourism Conference agenda will offer workshops, panel discussions, presentations and keynotes on Indigenous tourism topics and trends, share industry research and marketing strategies, and present key tactics to support growing local tourism development capacities in Indigenous communities.
This year, the theme is, “The Indigenous Tourism Economy: Learning Together and Sharing Our Stories.” Indigenous tourism has the power to change perspectives, preserve culture, language, and community and provide our relatives with a platform to be the leading voice in reclaiming our space in history — both ancient and modern.
“For the past six years, we have worked with speakers from all corners of Canada, the United States, New Zealand, and Australia, all of whom were captivating in their engagement of our delegates,” says Keith Henry, President & CEO of the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada. “Whether speakers share their vision for Indigenous tourism or the practical application of today’s marketing technologies, each session at the International Indigenous Tourism Conference inspires the more than 400 delegates who attend each year.”
Confirmed event partners for IITC 2018 include Tourism Saskatchewan, Tourism Saskatoon, and Indigenous Services & Northern Affairs Canada. Other event supporters include Parks Canada, and Destination Canada.
